The Big 50 and Family
When we drove away from our community for the first time, Andrea set an intention that every year we would find a place where our friends and family could gather with us. These would take place somewhere new each year. A place none of us had been before. Where we would be free to create new memories without previous experience or expectations for comparison.
This year renting a house in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains of Arizona was the perfect answer. With a parking area large enough for us to keep the Queen and Trey’s skoolie, “Russ The Bus”, on site and amazing views of the morning sunrise this was the spot! The space was great for large family meals, games, laughs, and ice cream cake, yet we could walkout to the driveway and still sleep in our own bed.
For the first time since our wedding day, 24 years ago, many members of both of our families were able to come together. It was a great time to celebrate Jerrod turning 50, an early Thanksgiving, and to build new bonds throughout our family.
The freedom to break free of the mental limits or expectations of what life should or has to look like, is a message we love to share. These yearly gatherings allow all of us to express what we have learned, discovered, and who we have become since we were last together.
It’s also a time to look forward to new challenges, obstacles, and to see a future full of possibilities.
They say you can’t miss someone if they never leave. So, while the goodbyes are difficult, those hello hugs are so much more powerful, and we can’t wait to plan next year’s gathering!
See you all down the road!
