Where will the Kids Call Home?

One of the million dollar views this lifestyle has afforded us.

Southwest Colorado, spring 2022

During our planning and preparation for life on the road this was a question we struggled with.

Where would our children go for the holidays?  To have a home cooked meal, a bed with extra pillows, and just to be comforted by the love of mom and dad?

Balancing our perspectives was the fact Andrea and I grew up in completely different circumstances.

She had lived in the same house since she was five years old, and her parents still live there.

Our family has celebrated many Easter’s, birthdays, and other memorable events in the same space she lived out her childhood.

We even spent a few nights in the Queen parked in front of Andrea’s childhood home during the fall of 2022.

Growing up as an Air Force brat I never put much emphasis on home being tied to a specific location.  To me, home was wherever we were living at the time.

For the past year, we have been able to provide our children the comforts of home both in their adult locations and when they visit us wherever we may be.

We have been blessed to see each of them at least twice in the past year, and always in a new place.

While the visits don’t have the comforts of their old bedrooms anymore, our new “home” comes with great views of ever-changing landscapes.

Experiences that are new for all of us and memories uniquely created with each of them is the new feeling of coming “home”.

Our children are extremely proud and supportive of our journey and still look forward to coming home, even if it is hard to explain to your friends 😊
