We Made It! Six Months of Full Time RVing!
To celebrate our six-month milestone, we wanted to share with you the top four things we have learned in our time on the road:
1. We learned to slow down but not go too slow.
Our first trip from Idaho to Florida was dictated by a work deadline which determined our speed of travel. Blazing through Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee with only overnight stops, we realized was not how we wanted to travel.
Upon returning from Costa Rica, we decided to slow down and spend the winter in Florida. Knowing it is a hard place to find camping spots, when we found one, we booked it for eight weeks. About a month into it, we realized this was too long, and we were itching to hitch up and move.
2. We love the flexibility of knowing we can pick up and move anytime we want. New sunrises, sunsets, and consistent new places to always explore just a drive away.
However, we also learned that we cannot be so “flexible” that we lose our discipline and fall into “I’m on vacation mode”.
3. We love people and missed our community. As believers in the law of attraction, finding community was something we knowingly put out into the universe when we arrived in Florida. Amazingly, we were blessed to meet many interesting people from all over the country. All doing travel differently, for their own unique reasons and each with a story to tell.
Ahh, but we don’t really like too many people. We usually tend to visit small towns, and quiet natural beaches to avoid the crowds you imagine when you think of Florida. We gave the festival scene two good tries and decided it was way too many people for us. Sorry about the Balloon Festival Tom!
4. We love warm weather, but not to warm. Open windows, ceiling fans, and gentle breezes are how we like living life in the Queen.
Yet we don’t want to get too chilly either. Cool nights to sleep comfortable, but not so cold that we need our heater.
Conclusion:
While we cannot tell you exactly what we 100% like after only six months, we can share that we completely love the journey of it.
We enjoy the process of searching for what we like by eliminating what we don’t, and the discoveries it unveils.
These six months of full timing has opened our eyes to amazing possibilities in life, introduced us to some new lifelong friends, and taught us so much about ourselves.
