New Culture, New Adventures

If you have never traveled abroad we cannot recommend it enough. Being a stranger in a foreign land does a lot to help readjust your perspectives. You will never again take for granted paved roads, safe drinking water, and the comforts of a common language.

Our favorite part of visiting Costa Rica so far has been meeting the locals and learning their stories.

We intentionally stayed in AirBnbs away from the main tourist resorts so that we could really get a feel for the country and it’s people.

Touring El Toledo Coffee, a family owned organic farm, and meet with Gabriel was amazing. We got to hear first hand about the daily lives of farmers and the impact our purchases can make.

Gabriel and his family are committed to sustainable farming in which multiple crops are grown to maintain the balance Mother Nature intended.

On this tour we drank coffee, ate tangerines, and sipped wine made from the juice of coffee berries! That’s right we had no idea either! Coffee beans are actually the seed inside a coffee berry.

By creating a new product from what would have been wasted Gabriel is showing the world how to be less wasteful and more resourceful in our practices.

We also had the pleasure of interacting over the course of our week in Atenas with our most gracious hosts Vera and George.

While neither is native to Costa Rica both truly embodied the spirit of Pura Vida or living the pure life Over pizza and wine we discussed all the benefits of living a life free of self imposed limitations They share stories of their worldly travels and encouraged Andrea and I to continue on.

Being around such good hearted people is the kind of food our souls need To find it in a foreign land where we barely speak the language just goes to show you how much goodness still exists in our world!

We could tell you more about the sites we visited, the hikes we took, or the food we ate but honestly our highlight was the people.

Now it’s is time to road trip Costa Rican style

As they say here “Pura Vida”
