Mr. Otis surveying his new house.

Our last “fur baby”, as Andrea likes to call them, passed away two months before we embarked on our traveling life.  It was an emotional loss for us, as Sir Russell’s passing marked the end of our children’s childhoods and the beginning of a new phase of life for all of us.

After much research and deliberation over the past two years, Andrea and I decided we were ready. It was time! This week, we are so happy to add Mr. Otis to our family.

Proud momma moment

It was worth the deviation in routes, changing up plans, and worked out exactly as it should have.

He is a 12-week-old golden doodle, maybe mini, maybe large? 😊 We rescued him through the help of an organization in Sedalia, CO, not to be confused for Salida, CO.  If by chance you do, you’ll find it’s about a 4-hour difference in your road trip! But hey what great story ever started with “everything went exactly as planned”?

Our first few days have been spent bonding with him, earning his trust, and assuring him the days of his uncertain past are over.  It’s fun having a new reason for early morning wake ups, hearing the noise of his little feet exploring the Queen and watching him look at this brand-new world with that puppy curiosity.  We have loved taking him on walks around the campground and seeing his reaction to all the new firsts that he is experiencing.

He’s adjusting well and already supervising the kitchen help.

Thank you all for being part of the silliness, imperfect moments we call life!

So far, after five days he has been everything we could have hoped for and more. He brings laughter, smiles, and ridiculously soft cuddles everywhere he goes.

We can’t wait to take him on all our hikes, paddleboarding, and all the adventures still to come!

Hope you don’t mind all the puppy pics and videos that are sure to be headed your way 😊
