4 Steps to Full Timing Part 4

How do decide where to travel?

First, we schedule our work engagements (where and when) into our yearly calendar.

Andrea’s business convention occurs each fall.  Meanwhile my police trainings occur from early spring to late summer, setting the foundation for our year.

Our family in Costa Rica 2021 celebrating Christmas with an international experience.

Then we decide on what our annual family Christmas experience will be, and any travel needed for that.

This year we will be doing something in the southwest United States, allowing us to stay closer to family and hopefully ensuring more of them can travel to us.

Next up is any specific bucket list places or events we want to visit.  In 2022 we are excited to be attending the Albuquerque Balloon Festival in the fall!

Once these are in place, we plan the shorter trips in between that allow us to explore along the routes.

A toast at the very first Harvest Host location we visited, Holeinsky Winery in Buhl, ID in fall 2021.

Learn More About Them Here

We love short stays boondocking on public lands, camping in state parks or staying at a Harvest Hosts facility that we discover along the way.

One of our favorite boondocking spots, at the base of Volcano Peak in the desert of Utah.

This system allows us the most flexibility in the smaller trips and enjoying the uniqueness of each location we find ourselves in.

We have enough time to stay longer if something really piques our interest or to leave earlier if we ever feel unsafe or bored with an area.

Planning our next camping spot will be before heading out is our most comfortable way of traveling, however, we have also learned that committing to a spot to long in advance can leave us in a place longer than we desire to stay.

The full time rv lifestyle will always be a work in progress as we continue to refine our approach as we experience more.
