Friends

You will never regret the time you spend with people that make you feel good.

Have you ever made a plan that was so good, that made so much sense, until you forgot about it and made a different plan?

Oh good.  Yeah, us either, but we know some people who did.

So, no shit, there they were.

Camped in the desert outside Organ Pipe National Monument. It was a great boondocking spot.  Perfectly balanced with neighbors so you felt safe, but equally distanced so everyone had privacy.  People from all over the world had come to this spot.  Neighbors from Canada, Denmark, and all over the United States were part of this makeshift community.

It was here on a stary, desert night, that this story begins.

Our friends long had “essential” items in their Amazon cart just waiting to be purchased.  All that had been missing was an address to send them to.  Tonight, it became clear.  They were enjoying this location so much they would stay another week so the packages could be delivered to the nearby town of Ajo. Easy peasy or so they thought.

Ajo, Arizona

An old mining town remaking itself into an artsy, hippy, off the beaten path small town. Just our kind of place!

If the story ended there our friends would have been fine. However, there must be more to it.

Just two days later, our friends talked to some other friends and decided they should all meet up outside of Tucson. The catch was it had to be the upcoming weekend as their travel plans were not aligning beyond that.  Our friends really like their other friends, who they met in Florida last winter, and had not seen in over a year.  So, they decided to do it.  This weekend they would head to Tucson.

Then our friends had another idea!

Since they were going all the way to Tucson, they should see about visiting the “highly recommended” dentist, who just happened to be in Naco, Mexico.  It was only another short two and a half hours south from Tucson and what the hell they did not have to be anywhere until mid-March, so why not!

Those views!

One of the best parts of full time rv living is the ability to change views frequently. This view is of the mountains just outside Tucson, AZ. Feb 2023

With that plan number two was set.

Our friends would drive from Ajo to Tucson for a quick two-day meet up with friends.  From there, they would head to the border town of Naco for the dentist.  Combining visiting friends with to do’s seemed like a great idea.

They were full time traveling geniuses, until……they remembered!

The packages would not be arriving in time!

What should our friends do?  Do they cancel their long-awaited visit? Reschedule the dentist, but that had been difficult to book in the first place.

Or just maybe our friends could go ahead with plan two then come back to plan one.

Visit friends, see the dentist, then drive five hours back across Arizona to pick up their packages that would be waiting for them.

In a life that can seem perfect on social media, it’s moments like these that we just half to sit back and laugh.

Snowing in Mexico!

Our friends never knew it snowed in southern Arizona, let alone in Mexico

Not only did our friends make this crazy journey but they ended up seeing something rare. A snowstorm on the Arizona and Mexico border!

Oh yeah, the friends they met up with.

That part of the story was totally worth it as well!  The brief time they spent with Sarah and Jake confirmed what awesome people they are, and they cannot wait to meet up again soon.

If you happen to see an Airstream racing back and forth across Arizona, just wave and smile.  Eventually, our friends will get to their packages. 😊

See you all down the road!
