October 2021 Full Time RV Recap
We did it! Two full months of living in our airstream and traveling the country in the books 😊.
One word sums up our October experience…. AMAZING!
It was amazing in the places we experienced, the people we met, and our growth both in RV experience and as a couple.
This adventure has been the most time Andrea and I have ever spent together with just the two of us and we did it in the smallest home we have ever owned.
As we sit and reflect on October 2021 it feels like a whirlwind tour by your favorite band. There were days we woke up and could not remember which state we were in, let alone what town.
We spent several days confused thinking we were in Tennessee when Kentucky had been our home for that time.
During October we realized we were violating one of our own goals which was to not travel very fast. You can see the proof of this in the places we visited below:
Pal’s Brewing in North Platte, NE Anchor Meadow Farm in Milford, NE
Weston Bend State Park in Weston MO Serenity Valley Winery, Fulton MO
Bernard Family Farm, Bonnie Ill Casey Jones Distillery, Hopkinsville, KY
Harrison Bay State Park, Chattanooga, TN Peach State Aerodrome, Williamson, GA
Whitetail Ridge Campground, Lagrange, GA Big Mike’s RV Park and Farm, Homerville, GA
Cypress Creek Preserve, Land O’ Lakes, FL

Our longest stay in one spot was for 4 days at Whitetail Ridge Campground which is run by the Army Corps of Engineers. If you get a chance to stay at any of the Army COE campgrounds, we highly recommend them. They are all usually on a body of water, have good amenities (reliable electric, water, dump station, and showers), the sites are well maintained, spaced out for privacy and the rates are very reasonable. We paid $25 a night for a lake front property. Hard to beat that!
This was the first time we had gotten our paddle boards out on our trip, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite it being late October, the weather was perfect for us. Mid 70’s to low 80’s during the day and high 50’s to low 60’s at night meant we did not have to run the heater at all and could sleep with our windows open again.
We both agree we need to revisit Kentucky and Tennessee as we did not truly get to experience all the beauty and culture both states have to offer on this trip.
Andrea’s favorite memory of the month was being able to watch the sunset and feel the breeze on her paddle board in Georgia.
I’d have to say the experience at Casey Jones Distillery was probably what I’ll remember most about October 2021. We learned from our history, drank new drinks, made new friends, and found a new problem to solve
This month also brought us a stark reminder of the fragility and temporary nature of our lives with the passing of our good friend, Jeri Erdman. She was a friend to many, a stranger to few, and leaves behind a legacy of family, love, and selflessness. We will see you down the road Jeri.
