The Dream Life?

Over the last few years, we have consistently been told by others, that we are “living the dream”.

From downsizing our home in 2017. Deciding to retire young in 2018. Choosing to selling our last property and business in 2020 to pursue full time rv life this has been a process.

With each step we took, new sets of problems emerged and required new solutions from us.  Our “dream” life seemed at times like anything but a dream.

We were forced to learn new skills and become much more adept at getting comfortable being uncomfortable in very different situations.

There was the adjustment to a lot less certainty in our days in exchange for the possibilities of what we would discover.

Our new life required us to adjust to days with a lot less routine, and far less personal space!

All this reminded us of an important lesson that at times is easy to forget.

Our goal in life should not be in seeking a problem free existence.  Instead, we should focus on growing in our responses to our problems.

Everybody, rich and poor, healthy, and sick, urban, and rural, black, and white, will have setbacks, heartbreaks, and failures.

Many of these are out of our control and will appear when we least think we can afford them, have time to deal with them, or need them in our lives.

Yet, how we choose to respond in these moments is not only within our control but is ultimately what defines who we become.

These situations have the potential to become the colorful stories we tell our grandchildren as they sit on our laps in awe, depending on how we choose to handle them.
