Don’t Be Afraid of Your Fears!
The definition of Fear - a feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something or the safety and well-being of someone.
The definition of Afraid: unwilling or reluctant to do something for fear of the consequences
Fear is a raw emotion. It can very much be a positive in our life.
It keeps us on edge, lets us know when something isn’t right in our world (fight or flight)
We all have fears. Every one of us.
I was scared when Andrea first told me of her idea to sell all of our belongings and live in an rv for at least a year.
We were scared when we gave Bonnie and Joe the hug and handshake agreeing to purchase our airstream and truck with no experience using either.
For the first few months, we felt fear every time we hitched up, drove away, mapped a route and set out on the highway.
All of this was so new and there were so many things that could possibly go wrong that fear was a natural partner.
Why do we still feel fear at this stage in life?
Because we are doing something new, something challenging and we care about the outcome.
We felt fear adjusting to this new lifestyle because we really wanted it to work.
What we are not is afraid!
We were not so afraid of all the possible “bad” outcomes that we did not even try.
Not so paralyzed that we accepted the status quo as all that we could become.
We respected our fear as healthy sign that we needed to prepare, study, practice, and go on the road with an open mind.
In any type of life there will be problems, leaks, repairs, and we would embrace all the learning that came with solving them.
Feeling that initial fear has subsided mostly because we acted towards it instead of retreating from it.
Our fear was not allowed to make us afraid.
One of the greatest parts of life is that there will always be new fears to face if you are living it right!.
